An ongoing family crisis means I haven’t finished writing, let alone recording, the final episode of my audio sitcom Lee-Ann’s Spare Fridays. When I have, I’m planning to do a long post about it all: so far I’m thinking characters and setting, where everyone’s names came from and all that kind of stuff. If there’s anything you’ve been curious about or would like to know more on — whether it’s something technical or the relevance of an obscure reference to 19th century history — or if you have a burning desire to see the scripts, let me know here in the comments or by replying to the email.
So sorry to hear about the family crisis, and hope that everyone’s ok.
And disappointed to hear that the series is coming to an end! I’ve been enjoying them so much — they’re a relief after the noisy-ness and disconnect and often unkindness of most TV sitcoms.
I’d indeed love to read about the backstory — how you decided to do a fiction/sitcom podcast, how much work goes into the technical side, who listens to them, and also where the characters’ names come from 😊.
Thanks Maria, I'm glad you've enjoyed them and it's very kind of you to say so. I guess I think of the classic British sitcom as having 6 episodes so I was aiming for 6 episodes a series, and 2 series seems plenty, but I'm hoping to do the odd special episode. I'll see if I can cover everything you'd like to know!
Unfortunately my mum's been in hospital for a couple of weeks and it's all a bit complicated, but we'll see where we get to.

Oh no — am sending all good thoughts for your mother from here. Hope that she’s better very soon.
(And definitely looking forward to special episodes!)
